PUBLIC SPEAKING AND KTI TRAINING 2024
Salatiga, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, Student Association of English Education Department (SAEED) successfully held Public Speaking and KTI Training. This event was held in the Auditorium, 3rd Floor, Ahmad Dahlan Building, UIN Salatiga. Entitled: “Improving the Active Skills of English Education Department Students in Writing and Public Speaking.”
The event started with an opening speech by Shafira Azzahra Buditia, as the Chief of the committee. She welcomed everyone and highlighted the importance of developing public speaking and writing skills for English Education students. Next, Rizka Arifatul Ulya as the chief of SAEED , shared her thoughts on the critical role of effective communication in education and professional success.
After the speeches, Sinta Mutiara Sani, the leader of EED Volunteach, presented certificates to the volunteers, thanking them for their hard work and dedication.
The main part of the event featured two informative sessions. In the FTIK Auditorium, Mrs. Suesthi Maharani, M.Pd., led the public speaking session. She engaged participants with interactive discussions and practical tips on how to speak confidently in front of an audience. Mrs. Suesthi emphasized the importance of preparation, suggesting that students practice their speeches multiple times. She also taught techniques for managing anxiety, such as deep breathing and visualization. Participants practiced their speaking skills by delivering short presentations and received constructive feedback, helping them to refine their abilities.
In Classroom 307, Mrs. Betari Irma Ghasani, M.Pd., conducted the KTI (Karya Tulis Ilmiah) session. She explained the key components of writing a scientific paper, including how to structure an introduction, methodology, results, and conclusion. Mrs. Betari encouraged students to think critically and creatively when developing their topics. The session included hands-on activities where students worked on creating outlines and drafting sections of their papers. This practical approach allowed students to apply what they learned immediately, enhancing their understanding of the writing process.
The event concluded with closing remarks from both speakers, who summarized the key points covered in their sessions and encouraged students to keep practicing their skills. Everyone took a group photo to remember the day, and certificates were presented to the speakers as a token of appreciation for their valuable contributions.
Overall, the training successfully helped students improve their public speaking and writing skills, making them more confident and capable in their academic pursuits.
