“Marriage Readiness: Tips for Ta'aruf

On Tuesday, the 11th of March, 2025, the Student Association of the English Education Department (SAEED) successfully organized the Ramadhan Talks and Treats event with the theme “Marriage Readiness: Tips for Ta'aruf”. The event took place at Mosque at Campus 3 of UIN Salatiga and was attended by students from various study programs and invited delegates.

Before the main event began, the organizing committee held a Qur'an recitation (khatam) as a form of spiritual reflection to welcome the holy month of Ramadhan. The formal event commenced at 4:00 PM, moderated by Fika Febriana. After the opening, the event continued with a recitation of the Holy Qur'an by Sekar Dwi Kumala, which added a solemn and spiritual atmosphere. This was followed by a welcoming speech from Sinta Mutiara Sani, the Chief of SAEED 2025, who expressed her hopes that the event would provide valuable insights for all participants.

Next, the moderator introduced the keynote speaker, Dr. Wahidin, M.Pd., who delivered the main lecture on marriage readiness. In his presentation, he emphasized that marriage requires not only financial stability but also mental and spiritual preparedness. He highlighted the importance of building a "harmonious and righteous family" (keluarga maslahah), one that fulfills both material and emotional needs while being deeply rooted in Islamic values. He also explained that in Islam, ta'aruf is the proper approach to getting to know a potential spouse, as it is guided by religious principles and differs significantly from dating.

After the lecture, the event continued with an interactive Q&A session, where participants asked various questions related to ta'aruf, mental readiness for marriage, and the challenges of married life. As iftar time approached, the committee distributed takjil to all attendees. Mrs. Rr. Dewi Wahyu Mustikasari, S.S., M.Pd., Ph.D., Head of the English Education Department, then gave a short speech on the importance of self-preparation before entering marriage. The event concluded with a closing prayer led by Dr. Wahidin, M.Pd., followed by a group photo session and iftar. Afterward, participants performed the Maghrib prayer in the congregation, followed by the distribution of dinner meals.

With the successful execution of this event, it is hoped that participants have gained a deeper understanding of marriage readiness by Islamic values. This event report is compiled as official documentation of Ramadhan Talks and Treats 2025.
