Salatiga,
Friday, August 22nd 2025 — Student Association of Tadris Bahasa Inggris (HMPS
TBI) successfully held the Pengenalan Budaya Akademik dan Kemahasiswaan (PBAK)
with the theme “Growing Together, Achieving Together: Towards Success in
English Education Department.” The event took place at Lorong Kelas 219–220,
Campus 3 UIN Salatiga, starting from 13.00 WIB until finish. The activity was
attended by new students of Tadris Bahasa Inggris, HMPS TBI 2025 members and
lecturers of the English Education Department.
The
event began with registration followed by the opening led by the Masters of
Ceremony, Muhammad Pandu Rizqillah and Yulita Anggraini. Afterward, the program
continued with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Sekar Dwi Kumala, and the
singing of Indonesia Raya and Hymne UIN Salatiga guided by Nabila Anastasya
Wijaya. Opening remarks were then delivered successively by Denisa Aulia Rahma
Yim as the Chief of the Committee, Sinta Mutiara Sani as the Chairperson of
HMPS TBI 2025, and RR. Dewi Wahyu Mustikasari, S.S., M.Pd., Ph.D as the Head of
the English Education Department.
The
main agenda was a material presentation and discussion session moderated by
Ajeng Farahdiba, with a keynote speech delivered by RR. Dewi Wahyu Mustikasari,
S.S., M.Pd., Ph.D. In her presentation, she explained the vision and mission of
the program, which are expected to shape students as prospective educators with
strong linguistic competence, pedagogical ability, and moral integrity. She
emphasized that the mission of the program highlights academic excellence,
creativity, collaboration, and contribution to society, values that should be
embodied by students throughout their study.
She
also described the learning process in the English Education Department, which
combines language mastery, pedagogy, literature, linguistics, and practical
teaching. Students are not only introduced to theories but also engaged in
teaching practices, research, and community service. Furthermore, she pointed
out the opportunities and challenges faced by English Education Department
students in today’s era. Opportunities include broad career prospects as
teachers, researchers, translators, and public speakers, while challenges
include global competition, the necessity of digital literacy, and the demand
for innovation in the field of education.
In
addition, she delivered motivational messages to the new students, encouraging
them to study with passion and discipline. She reminded them that university
life is not solely about pursuing a degree but also about shaping personality,
soft skills, and leadership abilities. She also advised students to maximize
their study period by maintaining balance between academics and non-academic
activities. Active participation in organizations, competitions, and research
opportunities would enrich their experience, while good academic performance
should remain a priority.
After
the keynote presentation, the event continued with a question and answer
session where students actively participated, showing high enthusiasm. At the
end of the discussion, moderator Ajeng Farahdiba also shared her personal
experience to inspire the freshmen. She explained that everything starts from
small steps, recalling how she initially began by giving private lessons before
finally gaining the confidence to open her own tutoring program. Her story
served as a real example that persistence and courage in taking small
opportunities can grow into meaningful achievements in the future.
The
agenda then proceeded with the screening of the organizational profile video of
HMPS TBI and RISMA, followed by a prayer led by M. Mumtaz Ilmi Imawan. The
event was officially closed with a group photo session.
Overall,
the PBAK Prodi TBI 2025 ran successfully, effectively, and was filled with
enthusiasm from both participants and organizers. The event not only introduced
the academic culture of the program but also inspired and motivated new
students to grow together, achieve together, and prepare themselves as future
educators who are competent, innovative, and full of integrity.
