ENGLISH FESTIVAL 2023
Allo, allo, what's up? What do you think of when you hear the word ''English Festival''? Arts? Festival? Winner?
Yep, you're right. Well, without further ado, let's get to the topic.
The English Festival event itself is an event that is part of the work program of the Education and Training division, and as a peak, there will be a seminar that is commonly called the English Corner. This training event is realized by the Student Organization Of English Education Department (SAAED). In this organization, of course, the members are English Education Department students.
This time The English Festival has the theme ‘’Boost your Intellectuality and Creativity to be Competitive and Successful Youth’’, regarding the Study Program’s Birthday on June 12, 2023. This event was held with a more festive and interesting concept.
This event takes place on June 17, 2023, and before that date there is an opening for participant registration, file collection, and a technical meeting. There are three branches of the E-Fest competition this time: singing, speech, and Microteaching. Singing and Speech are carried out offline at UIN Salatiga, the Ahmad Dahlan Building, in a different place, while microteaching is carried out online.

(Speeches)
The English Festival event began with Speeches by the chief of English Festival SAEED 2023, Nuril Auliya Ma'ruf; the chief of SAAED 2023, Afifah Hasna Syifa; the Head of English Education Department, Dr. Hanung Triyoko; and also The Dean of Teacher Training and Education Faculty namely Prof. Mansur.
At the end of his speech, Prof. Mansur delivered a PANTUN whose contents greeted all participants and also prayed that they would get maximum results. Then I continued reading the prayer and an explanation from the MC regarding the place for the competition. After that, there was Ice breaking, which was followed by participants and also the Committee.
(Ice Breaking)
The total number of participants this time was 41, and the contenders in the singing and speech competition came not only from Salatiga, but also from beyond the city, which was quite amazing.
Each competition has a Different Theme, such as the following:
- Theme of the speech competition
- Problem-Based Learning
- Types of Expressions and Their Types
- Part of Speech
The majority of participants chose the Problem-Based Learning topic from the three options presented above.
Then, in the Singing Contest, two songs must be sung: general songs and choices. There are four general song options, which are as follows:
- Hurts So Good (Astrid Smeplass)
- Enchanted (Taylor Swift)
- Perfect (Ed Sheeran)
- Cheating On You (Charlie Puth)
Most participants chose the song Perfect by Ed Sheeran. Regarding the Jury of the competition, among others, as follows:
