 English Corner batch IV

   English Corner Batch IV was held on June 21, 2023, at the Ahmad Dahlan Building auditorium on the 3rd floor. This seminar was held as the highlight of the English Festival, which was previously held on June 17, 2023. The theme of this seminar is the same as the theme of the English Festival, namely "Boost Your Intellectuality and Creativity to be a Competitive and Successful Youth".

   The number of participants was 138, with 41 of them being participants from the previous English Festival. Regarding the speakers themselves, there were 2 speakers, namely Dr. Hanung Triyoko S.S., M.hum., M.Ed., as the first speaker, who is also the head of the English Education Department, and Miss Jenny Espe, who is a Native speaker from the United States.

  The English Corner event was opened by singing the Indonesia Raya and Mars songs of UIN Salatiga, then Speechess, the first Speech by the chief of English Festival SAEED 2023 Nuril Auliya Ma'ruf, the second Speech by The Chief of SAAED 2023,Afifah Hasna Syifa, and the last Speech by the Head of  Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty, namely Dr. Maslikhah, M.Si, as well as the opening of the event.

   After the Speeches, there was Tradisional Dance Performance and then the Moderator and the presenters read. The Moderator this time was Azza Mustaanudin, who is a member of the Education and training division. Before starting the seminar, the moderator greeted the audience and gave some light questions; after that, the session started with an explanation of the material to be delivered by each presenter. The first material, Intellectuality, was delivered by Dr. Hanung Triyoko. S.S., M.hum, M.Ed., where is the material about what is intellectual? More important: Intellectual or intelligent? Where the audience is asked to participate by raising their hands, then afterwards begins to explain again about the material that has been made into very eye-catching PowerPoint slides. 

   Then the second material was delivered by Miss Jenny Espe regarding creativity. This material was delivered at the same time as practice, where each audience was given a piece of paper containing small circles, where the circle had to be filled with whatever the audience thought in 3 minutes. After giving the games, Miss Jenny continued The material uses PDF slides. The audience looked very enthusiastic when they met the presenters.

Finally, it was time for Q&A. There were three questioners, including the following:

1. How do we boost Our Critical Thinking?  (By Tyas Setiarini)
2. About creativity, we have a lot of trouble because of a lack of it. How to develop Creativity in Students during rest time? (By Arya Sanishara N.S.)
3. In this era, how do you survive with the people who criticize without Thinking of solutions? (By Andriansyah)

    Question number one was answered by Pak Hanung, question number two was answered by Miss Jenny, and question number three was answered by both of them. The conclusion from the material and questions above is that intelligence is more important than intellectuality, and the way to boost intellectuality is by reading a book and learning a new language. And about how our creativity develops is to do activities that are not just that, so it doesn't cause boredom, and creativity itself is intelligence having fun, then thinking things that other people can't think of, or we are familiar with the word out Of The Box''.

    The next session is the cutting of tumpeng rice by the Head of English Education Department and also the Chief of SAAED 2023. This cutting is in the framework of the culmination of the event on the birthday of the English Education Department.

   Then what many people have been waiting for is the announcement of the winners of the 2023 English Festival Competition. The winners of the English Festival are given award certificates and Pila, as well as coaching money for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

    With the announcement of the winners, the highlight of this event was over. It can be seen that both the Engcor and e-fest participants looked very enthusiastic and orderly when participating in the event.
